Had a funny incident on the road today. I was in Chirag Delhi to take some photos and got their early enough to park my car in a relatively quiet spot. On returning to my car at about 9.30 and the area had turned mental, I have never seen so many bikes streaming past. I must have been there for 20 mins to half an hour and it was relentless.
The problem was I went down the bike lane as I thought I could turn left at the end (I was mislead by a traffic sign). For those reading this in the UK who at this point are tutting as my reckless ways, "serves you right as you shouldn't be driving in a bike lane"... as long as a surface has tarmac and won't damage your vehicle too much its fair game over here. However, I should have known something was wrong as no other cars were following my lead.
I got to the end and surprise, there were barriers in place to prevent cars getting through. So I had to slowly carve out U-turn in an extremely tight space while bikes were hooting and getting irate at the stupid foreign driver! I was starting to sweat, thought about abandoning ship, but eventually manage to get round and squeeze through the oncoming traffic.
So you have been warned, the bike lane in Chirag Delhi is a place to be avoided!
